Laggyspikes on ELIM server.

Postby McGoo » Mon Dec 07, 2009 12:26 pm

Hey all, Ive been gettin some lag spikes on my server lately. I updated a lot of files like gun-game and even-tscripts to try and make crashes less frequent. Crashes are less frequent. but now im getting bad laggyness.

If anyone could drop by my server and experience the issue and maybe offer an idea that would be great.

Im looking for any ideas before i reinstall completely.

my server is west @ 72.37.185.60:27015

~Thanks

I had a felow help me a few months back, if hes still around pls add me on steam.

Please note you also have to take into consideration your server provider as well. Sometimes you can have the best setup but if the server provider overloads the box or has alot running on the box it can cause lag spikes.

My reccomendation would be to speak with your server host.

My server provider wont really help unless i remove gungame. Then they will check it out, but I already did that and its not a server issue. Its somthing in the files. id be willing to let an expert look at my setup and see if theres anything that can be tried or maybe look at the gungame logs, i forgot how to enable error logging.

Could you be a bit more descriptive as what this "laggyness" exactly is? Sometimes your server.cfg can be setup incorrectly of a few cvars, there was some kind of net send packet something... This can cause infrequent lag spikes at end of rounds or during voice chat conversations. As for GG5, there could be the chance of a memory leak or a conflicting file/service the host is running.

Its like a hesitation lag every few seconds, at first i thought it was only after a kill or a level up but i think its constant. I have a "!give" addon and a tk protect but i have those both on my other servers as well with no issues.

Does the lag happen when you're the only one on the server or with many? Like having 20 players on and its lagging like crazy? Do you know if you have enough bandwidth to provide for each player by any chance? Greater question is if it lags with GG off and possibly eventscripts as well? Help rule out some variables. :)
