Not downloading sounds

My game will not download the sounds from the server. I took "cl_downloadfilter nosounds" out of all my configs and restarted the game. It will not download them.
Is there anything I have to do on the server-side for this to work? I have everything on a re-direct, map downloads are fine, but no sounds.

UPDATE:
I got the sounds to download, but now they do not play...

Are your running sv_pure 1? if so you can just set your sv_pure to 0 but if you run zblock you cant change it to 0 you need to edit the whitelist in your hl folder and allow_from_disk not steam! :geek:

sv_pure is on 0. I did get the sounds to download and play. But, if I try to put my own custom sound in to replace one of the originals, it will either not download it, or download and not play that specific one.

Hi

Go to your counter-strike source folder sounds on your c drive and delete all you sounds then try it.
wot is you servers ip ?
